I’m not being smug, and I’m not being ignorant. So there you have it, a wall of text with how I solved my socket closed errors. So, I’ve installed windows 11 yesterday, but since then Eve online stopped working for me. A few hiccups here and there do not detract from that even a little bit, and most ‘socket closed’ incidents have absolutely nothing to do with EVE’s servers, which are far more expensive than any single group of servers EA uses for any one game combined. Meanwhile, EVE’s servers are historically the single most stable across online gaming history, with 98+% uninterrupted uptime (with the exception of scheduled downtimes which don’t count as failures because they are intended). Not just me on each of these occasions, seems to be affecting numerous people from the comments I am seeing. But if you something in the background already which most do then it probably isn't it.And yet, EA’s servers are incredibly unreliable due to EA choosing to spend as little money as possible on them, and players consistently complain about them for every online EA game across the board. Socket closed twice while in fleet last night about 23:30 EVT and since down time I have had socket closed 3 times in a row on both accounts, only managing to be online for about 10 minutes at a time. Services such as Skype, Spotify, Steam, Outlook connected to Exchange server ect. Im on century link in nevada, and yes century link is the worst ISP i have had in 15 years online. Granted i have 100/100 mbit connection but i have several services running on background that constantly sync with their respective servers. EVE allows you to discover, explore and dominate an amazing science fiction universe while you fight, trade, form corporations and alliances with other players. One easy way to test would be to leave a youtube video running in the background to see if EVE is still giving socket closed when you return. For nearly a week now i cant play EVE After i log into the game i can play like a few minutes before everything hangs (connection wise). These sockets closed seemingly happen when there is inactivity on my end for a short while (less than 10 minutes) How is your computer connected, wired or wireless? Wired One possible reason that I can think of is that since EVE uses very little bandwidth(you could probably run it on dial-up if you wanted to), network adapter thinks that there is nothing going on while you are inactive and goes to sleep to save power.
